Hey all, I'm curious.

For those of you that have the mobile speaks or the talks software, how often do you text?

Off and on, for over a year now, I've wanted to make that plunge, but it'll be expensive. So, I'm wondering, how often would I really text? Because for the most part, that is the only feature I'm lacking.

BTW, I'm on verizon wireless. Are most of you using the q?

Post 2 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Thursday, 06-Mar-2008 23:47:37

Do you know people who text a lot? that determines how much you are actually going to use it. You also gett faster at it.
I have a friend whose able to text, and my whole family is on an unlimited text plan.

Like Jeannie said, it all depends on the people you talk to and whether they text a lot. I have AT&T Wireless, and I have a Nokia 6682 with TALKS. I probably send 20 texts a day. But that's mainly because I have some friends and family members that text a lot. You have to base it on your own personal situation and determine whether it's worth it.

You can also text services such as Google to get information. This may impact your decision.

Post 5 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Friday, 07-Mar-2008 22:28:01

I text constantly...Texting has replaced talking in my world!

Post 6 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 07-Mar-2008 23:04:54

Ditto Jesse. I'm in love with texting! But then, that's because I'm in high school and it's a fad with my friends.
You can text via email though.

So unless you really have lots of people to text, I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting an accessible phone just for that. Except for the talking caller ID is a totally amazing thing to have.

I'm a big texter. Somethings else to think about is that even if you aren't going to text its worth it to me more to input contacts and to no who is calling me. I work at a large dayspa in my town and I don't no what I would have done without mobilespeak. I have like 60 people in my contacts and 45 of them are people from my job. Um my brain can only hold so many numbers. I have the blackjack 2 and love it. I've been through all the other smartphones and hated them. The q doesn't work in incomeing calls the pantec duel mobilespeak comes out of the speaker in the back of the phone and not in the ear. The only thing with the blackjack 2 you can't save the contacts to the phone so um kind of stuck there.

Post 8 by Emerald-Hourglass (Account disabled) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 10:52:54

huh? what do you mean you can't save the contaccts to the phone. I'm looking into getting a phone with mobile speak or talks through singular. I don't know what i want though cuz i haven't gone to the store and actually checked them out, but i hear people talking about all the phones kelly mentioned but still deciding what i want. I plan to text a lot, i need it to tell me who the hell is calling lol, i want something with a good camera and video cam...i'm stuck between the black jack 2 and the motorola q. any input is very much apreciated though guys..

Post 9 by kelly (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 09-Mar-2008 23:30:35

with att you have a symcard and on most smartphones you had an option to save to the phone as well and with the blackjack2 you can't do that but I love the phone its so awesome!

Post 10 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Tuesday, 11-Mar-2008 20:36:32

I have the pantech duo, and for the most part I'm loving it. I live by my phone lol. I text often (it's my new addiction lol) I use the note pad often, it's awesome!!! It feels great to finally join the sighty world lol

Post 11 by shea (number one pulse checking chicky) on Tuesday, 11-Mar-2008 20:42:01

i have the q and i like it. i don't text all that much, but i do use it a lot for contacts and all that jazz. everyone is going to have there likes and dislikes about each phone. its up to you to do your homework on the phone, and make the decision. lol. smiles good luck

Post 12 by Emerald-Hourglass (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 11-Mar-2008 21:16:21

yeah i got the q, it's so cute lol, getting mobile speak for it soon

Post 13 by shea (number one pulse checking chicky) on Tuesday, 11-Mar-2008 22:06:49

you know you can try the full demo of mobile speaks for thirty days for free. then you still have the demo but it's only in ten minute mode. which can be annoying. hehehe

Post 14 by The SHU interpreter (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 13-Apr-2008 8:46:09

the LGNV phone can read and send and recieve text, but i don't know how to do that.
also, it has a full letter keybord and the numberpad on the outside like a regular phone, but is a whole lot better than the Lg4650.
oh, and it announces the keys you hit when you text and send messages. but if anyoone can explain to me in a private message how to do text messages, plz feel free to do so. and, it has a slot fofor a sim card also

Post 15 by jactac1111 (Generic Zoner) on Thursday, 24-Apr-2008 19:24:00

Post 16 by Emerald-Hourglass (Account disabled) on Thursday, 24-Apr-2008 19:36:41

ok question don't know if it belongs here, but imma ask it anyways..with the q: when i wanna insert a pic in a text it won't let me. it says disabled, and i can't find a way to send pics another way. it's so weird.

Post 17 by allisonfm (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 01-May-2008 13:03:48

I text often, but that's mainly because I have a group of friends who also text often. I'm running MSS on a pantech PN820, and I love it! I love being able to save contacts effortlessly, as well as always being able to find out exactly where I am in my phone's menu system. It was quite an investment, (about $500 for the phone and the software combined) but it's been worth it.

ok phone question. on the cue can I fix it so I can play and text while talking on the phone? let me know.

Post 19 by Brooke (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 01-May-2008 16:10:47

Janelle, what provider do you have? That sounds more like a provider issue than one with the phone itself.

singular/atnt

Post 21 by jen91_09 (777) on Sunday, 11-May-2008 13:05:42

Hey does anyone use alltel? I'm looking for an accessable alltel phone/program that'll work with altel. If you guys could either reply on here or PM me some input that'd be gr8. I would like to be able to know whose calling and text and add contacts FYI. Thanks
Jenna

I used to text all the time until I got a huge phone bill for it.

Post 23 by jactac1111 (Generic Zoner) on Friday, 16-May-2008 16:57:28

Post 24 by jactac1111 (Generic Zoner) on Friday, 16-May-2008 17:04:34

i have a bj2 and i can save to my sim or my memory.

Post 25 by jen91_09 (777) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 10:29:56

Too bad alltel doesn't offer the BJ2. it only offers the Q and it sucks cause that involves updating to a new plan which will cost more money since we've got 4 lines on our plan allready and its $20 per line for the updated plan plus like 109 to be on the plan. I'm thinking about getting the Q from somewhare else and just putting it on the plan we have now. Does than make sence? lol

Post 26 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 14:59:10

you can get the phone without getting another line, just have them put the sim in the other phone, thats what i did, oh and btw, i have a nokia 6620 i unlocked from cingular and now i cant press six three nine or pound, it worked one day, after it had stopped, dork me powered down the phone powered it up and it didnt work again. any ideas? the package i got from cingular was $432 i want my phone to work damnit

Post 27 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 25-May-2008 19:07:51

I have the env 2 from verizon, and I love it. I can send/recieve text messages with no extra expensive software. I'm not against mobile speak. I think it's a great thing. I just didn't have the money. My phone cost me about one hundred and forty dollars, but that included switching over to my dad's play, new phone case, and adding texting to my plan. the phone itself was ninety nine dollars plus I get a fifty dollar mail-in rebate. Over all, I think I got a good deal. I'm happy. I can text, and that's all I cared about.

Post 28 by fantabulous tigger (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 21-Sep-2008 13:46:07

I to love texting. I'm on an unlimited plan as well. It's great especially if you have friends on other wireless networks.

Post 29 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 06-Oct-2008 3:04:30

Yep SMS is the way. You can simply say a billion things all day and these unlimited plans save on talking. Some phones even offer the ability to add a regular keyboard, but then I'd just get on the laptop. Lol

Post 30 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 06-Oct-2008 22:26:06

hey I am back and I love to text. Everyone in my family does and I just have gotten so great at it.

Post 31 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 07-Oct-2008 0:11:17

You haven't txt me yet, so your not pro. hahahahaha

Post 32 by kelly (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 07-Oct-2008 19:41:59

I love texting! Its really nice because if your talking to your bf no one has to hear what your saying. It saves on minutes as well

Post 33 by The Great Rabbit (Queen of random) on Tuesday, 07-Oct-2008 20:22:31

i have an n75 and i love being able to text. i'm on an unlimited texting plan and sometimes i text quiet a bit; i got pretty fast lol. i do a lot of texting when i'm not at the computer with mobile msn and stuff like that and its neat to be able to message people without always being at the computer. plus i use the google sms thing sometimes to get weather and stuff like that, and there's lots of other things you can do with sms like stuff with facebook and lj and other stuff.

Post 34 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Thursday, 09-Oct-2008 21:58:23

I have att, and I hear they are coming out with a lot of new phones. does anyone know if mss will be available for these phones?

Post 35 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 13-Oct-2008 0:36:32

Many AT&T accessible phones text. If I were you I'd get one with a keyboard. Much easier then using the number keypad, but I warn yu it will cost you about $400 and up baby, but then you'll be ready to TXT SMS or what every you call it. hahaha

Tell me something.

Post 36 by SingerOfSongs (Heresy and apostasy is how progress is made.) on Monday, 13-Oct-2008 2:59:51

I also text a ton. Sometimes it's having conversations with friends, sometimes it's getting information from google or my bank. I also have my aim forward to my phone, so that when I'm not home, I can still be contacted that way easily. You can do this with msn as well, though it's a bit more... Flaky. (The one thing I actually think aim does better than msn other than file transfers.) Hell, sometimes I've needed to be able to refer to some info later, so I text it to myself from the zone site here. (You only get 160 characters, but that's enough for a short note.) I also have a nokia 6682 at present, with AT&T, though I'm thinking about getting a new phone soon.

well, i have a friend who is using the pantech duo and she said that that brand is crap because it crashed many times on her and erased all of her contacts.
So i asked her if i should get one of those because i think that the screen is cool and it talks with mobile speak, and she said, well, i will never recommend the pantech duo because it crashes alot.
Any of the nokia phones are good because they are very reliable.
